The new T8toT5 model is the only T5 adaptor to the best of our knowledge that has been designed to comply with CELMA and LIF concerns and fully tested in the UK to BS Standards. (There are well Known and documented industry concerns regarding overseas emission testing and certification. Radiated emissions testing must be carried out by fully accredited test centres and to BS Standards).

The new T8toT5 product complies fully with BS55015 emissions standards and we believe is the only T5 adaptor to do so. BS 55105 is a very important safety standard and regulates against illegal electronic interference and radiated emissions which can and do effect electronic wireless, radio and electronic equipment, including health products. There are also health concerns with radiated emissions (mobile phones are an example) and CELMA and LIF have issued statements to the industry about these issues. Fines of up to £5,000 and 3 months imprisonment are among penalties for those who do not comply or who install products without the legal emission control standards.

Soft Start Function

This feature slowly increases the power to filaments on start up to avoid spluttering/black ending of the tubes and increases tube life expectancy. In cold conditions the slow start circuit will compensate by adjusting the start time to make sure the filament heats up correctly before ignition.

Thermal Cut Out Fuse

In the event of a fault which may cause over heating, this safety feature ensures that the unit will permanently switch off to eliminate any fire risk.

End of Life Protection

The 8to5 unit will automatically switch off when it detects a faulty T5 tube or if the connection to the tube is compromised, which protects the internal circuitry. When the faulty tube is replaced the unit will then reset itself and work as normal.

Internal Safety Fuse

The 8to5 unit has a built in quick blow fuse, in the event of a circuit failure the fuse will blow disconnecting the 8to5 unit from the mains supply.

Over Voltage Protection

The 8to5 has built in voltage spike suppressors on its power input to protect the ballast
from being damaged by voltage spikes on the mains supply.

Semiconductor Protection

All the transistors are fitted with protection diodes.

Adjustable End Mounts

This allows the unit to fit into old fixtures where the mounting pins need to be set at a
different angle in order to position the unit correctly.

Built in Reflector

The one piece plastic coated reflector does not need to be earthed.

Tube End Covers

The 8to5 units are supplied with plastic tube end covers which securely hold the T5 tubes in place.

Class 2 Luminaire

The 8to5 is double insulated with a self extinguishing ABS plastic body.

T5 Tubes

The 8to5 ballast is designed specifically for use with the 8to5 brand tubes. These are available in 3500k, 4000k and 6000k for optimum performance and reliability.
